Wind / ERA5
Hourly point wind time series from Copernicus ERA5 (10 m / 100 m)
Installed
ERA5 point data are requested through the Copernicus Climate Data Store hourly time-series service. Copernicus performs the point extraction server-side; the VPS downloads only the requested result. A CDS account/API token must be configured on the server.
Current VPS protection: maximum 21 calendar years per run. Output is native ERA5 10 m / 100 m data in UTC; hub-height extrapolation is a separate step.

Excel export

Every completed calculation exports an XLSX workbook whose first worksheet is Cover. The Cover is written in English and documents purpose, inputs, method, outputs, limitations and source/documentation links.

Calculation logic / How this works

Obtain the real multi-year hourly meteorological series for the project point. No wind-resource correction or turbine model is applied at this stage.

  1. Send project coordinates and the selected date range to the Copernicus CDS ERA5 hourly point time-series service.
  2. Copernicus performs server-side point extraction; HybridAEP receives the nearest ERA5 0.25° grid point.
  3. Calculate 10 m and 100 m wind speed and meteorological direction from U/V components; retain temperature and surface pressure.
  4. Preserve the complete chronological hourly series and calculate monthly and annual summary statistics.
  5. Save the reusable full-resolution CSV.gz on the VPS and create an XLSX audit/report export.
Output is native ERA5. Calibration, hub-height conversion, turbine power curves and wake losses are applied later.
